Weds
Japan's first aftermarket wheel manufacturer
History & Overview
Founded in 1965 as Nippo LTD in Osaka, Japan, Weds originally produced OEM wheels for Nissan Motor Company. The company entered the aftermarket wheel industry in 1969 as a supplier of the Elster brand, making them Japan's first aftermarket wheel manufacturer.
In 1977, Weds created Japan's first three-piece forged wheel (Racing Forg), establishing their engineering credentials. The WedsSport brand launched in 1984 for motorsport applications, and the company has been continuously involved in Super GT racing since 1998, marking over 25 years of top-tier Japanese motorsport participation.
Today, Weds operates under the 'World Elster Distribution System' name from headquarters in Ōta, Tokyo. Their AMF (Advanced Metal Forming) technology combines the design flexibility of casting with the strength of forging. The company sponsors TGR TEAM WedsSport BANDOH in Super GT's GT500 class, racing a Toyota GR Supra.
