Black Rhino Wheels

Purpose-built truck and SUV wheels with South African roots

Est. 1991USA

History & Overview

Black Rhino Wheels is part of the TSW family of brands. TSW (Tiger Sports Wheels) was founded in the late 1960s in South Africa by Eddie Keizan, a former Formula One racing driver, and the brand expanded into the North American market through the following decades, establishing a portfolio of sub-brands targeting distinct vehicle segments. Black Rhino emerged from that portfolio as the dedicated truck and SUV identity, taking its name from the Black Rhino of Africa in a nod to the brand's South African roots.

Black Rhino initially served a broader aftermarket audience, but over the years the brand found its strongest identity in the truck and SUV segment. Rather than chasing the chrome-heavy, polished aesthetic that dominated truck wheels for decades, Black Rhino leaned into military and off-road utility themes, with models named after locations, animals, and equipment associated with rugged terrain.

The brand grew steadily through the 2010s alongside the overlanding movement. As more truck owners started building Tacomas, 4Runners, and Broncos for actual trails, Black Rhino's no-nonsense aesthetic fit the culture. The brand has also made inroads with Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator owners who want something more distinctive than stock steel wheels but less flashy than chrome billet.

In December 2020, Wheel Pros (now Hoonigan) acquired TSW and its portfolio of brands including Black Rhino. This gave Black Rhino access to broader distribution through one of the largest aftermarket wheel networks in North America. Today Black Rhino offers a range of cast and flow formed wheels with fitments covering most popular trucks and SUVs, with pricing in the mid-range segment.

Eight-spoke design with a rugged, workmanlike look. Popular with overlanding builds that want functional aesthetics. Available in matte black, olive drab green, and gunmetal. 17"-20". $205-295/wheel.

Safari

Cast Aluminum

Black Rhino's retro-inspired beadlock-style wheel. Clean spoke layout with a simulated outer ring. Available in multiple two-tone options. Popular on lifted Broncos and FJ Cruisers. 17"-20". $215-320/wheel.

Raid

Flow Formed

Flow formed construction that brings the weight down versus standard cast offerings. More performance-oriented within the Black Rhino lineup. Good choice for Tacoma and Colorado owners who care about unsprung weight. 17"-20". $260-380/wheel.

Henderson

How to Spot Fakes

Black Rhino Wheels wheels are frequently counterfeited. Here's how to verify authenticity:

  • Genuine Black Rhino wheels have the brand name engraved or stamped on the back of the barrel
  • Center caps include the Black Rhino logo and fit flush without gaps
  • Load rating, bolt pattern, and model info should be cast into the rear of the wheel
  • Finish quality on genuine wheels is consistent with no bleed between machined and painted areas
