Gram Lights

Gram Lights is a sub-brand of RAYS Engineering, the Japanese wheel manufacturer responsible for Volk Racing. RAYS was founded in 1973, and Gram Lights debuted in 2001 as a way to bring RAYS's design and quality standards to a more accessible price point through advanced cast construction rather than the forged processes used for the premium Volk Racing line.

The 57 series became the defining product line for Gram Lights. The number 57 is a tribute to RAYS's motorsport heritage. When RAYS first entered competition in the 1970s, their racing cars carried the number 57, and it has been used on RAYS-supported racing vehicles ever since, including the Toyota 84C that raced in the 1985 WEC Japan event.

The 57DR became one of the most recognized wheel designs in the enthusiast world. Its clean six-spoke layout and lightweight cast construction made it a favorite on track-prepped Civics, Miatas, and WRXes. The design has been replicated by countless knockoff manufacturers, which says a lot about how influential it became.

Gram Lights occupies a specific position in the RAYS ecosystem. Volk Racing targets the high-end enthusiast and professional racing market with forged wheels. Gram Lights fills the gap below Volk, offering genuine RAYS cast construction and quality control at prices that a serious weekend racer can justify. This has made the brand popular in the time attack and grassroots motorsport community, where lightweight wheels provide real lap time benefits.

Because Gram Lights wheels are made in the same Japanese facilities as Volk Racing and go through RAYS's JWL+R Spec. 2 inspection standards, the quality consistency is notably high compared to competitors at similar price points.
